Neurofeedback is a form of mental exercise and therapy that helps people reach their maximum peak performance to live fulfilling lives. Neurofeedback trains your brain by teaching it the appropriate brain wave rhythm for clear and precise decision making skills. Thus, our goal is to easily develop minds to manage complex and logical tasks like strategizing a business plan, managing one’s finances, or even learning how to play the piano without mental stress.
As a form of mental exercise, Neurofeedback is similar to the following activities:
- working on a crossword puzzle
- strategizing a basketball team’s offensive play
- answering higher math problems
- learning a new language
- playing a musical instrument through reading notes.
As a form of therapy, it can help in these difficult cases:
- Post-traumatic stress
- Parkinson’s Disease and Intellectual Disability
- Obsessive Compulsive Disorde
Neurofeedback is similar to these activities but it is more efficient in its process because it:
- Can directly choose to focus on specific parts of the brain for improvement.
- Cover all areas of the brain.
- Quick application as it requires minimal active mental effort.
HOW: The Neurofeedback Method
As mentioned in our section on Mental Fitness, our brain patterns are expressed in our work. Notably, a sound high performance mind can be reflected in a musician’s ability to create a complex composition of notes. Each musical note and space require an active brain to mentally bring it together through logic, creativity and efficient communication between the brains:
Now, imagine your brain wave patterns as a set of rhythmic notes:
Can you imagine what song it would sing?
Would it be an ode to joy like the audio found below?
To learn music, areas to develop better brain wave patterns to target are:
T3 T4 C3 C4 O1 O2 (<see another pattern!)
Click the image above to see a close-up version.
Tasks with complex patterns require fit brain wave patterns to match them.
For rare high performance minds, it would sound like a symphonic masterpiece. While, persons with mental issues have rhythmic patterns that sound like static noise. For the average population, there are areas that can be fine tuned to think quicker, grasp ideas and situations better and respond with logical ease. Through our Neurofeedback programs, these various brain pattern types can benefit according to their specific needs.
For you, our goal is to develop your mind into a masterpiece.
MAPPING OUT YOUR MIND
As you can see above, each part of your brain performs a certain function that influences how you move and make your decisions. For example, T5 refers to verbal understanding. A poor T5 area will either show erratic or slow rhythmic brain patterns. A quick learner, on the other hand will, have an active and focused rhythmic pattern. Again, his mind as a song would sound very pleasant to the ear.
To determine the rhythmic patterns of your mind, we take a non-invasive brain scan to test how different parts of your mind are optimally performing. After, we develop a Neurofeedback training program with our Singaporean partner Brain Enhancement Center that will be specifically tailored to fine tuning your brain wave patterns into a high performance rhythm.
TRAINING YOUR MIND TO BE A MAESTRO
As mentioned, the key to optimal mental performance is our brain’s rhythmic pattern. Thus, we train your brain to subtly learn this rhythm through a series of game applications (see image above). Using electrodes non-invasively attached to your head, the program simultaneously reads your mental patterns and slowly corrects it by teaching your brain the optimum rhythm for it to flow into higher thought processes. The application shows your mental progress by reflecting it through music and animation. As you improve your mental capabilities, your mind will reflect that of a maestro. As our game progresses, it will assure you of your progress with more pleasant and consistent sounds rather than noisy and jagged rhythms.
This method can be likened to a form of biofeedback that we use when we run on a treadmill. The treadmill’s heart rate monitor is a biofeedback tool that runners use for training. When athletes start their training, they use the heart rate monitor to set an optimum heart rate to follow and win their race at the right pace. Neurofeedback works in a similar fashion by monitoring the brain’s rhythm and setting a target speed for it to reach. The game mentioned above is the running course for your brain to be at its peak performance. As you can see, both forms of biofeedback are natural forms of self medication and improvement. The body is naturally developing itself without the aid of any medication. As such, Neurofeedback doesn’t create a life long dependence on its treatment unlike costly drugs only last for short periods of time.
HIGHLY SPECIALIZED BRAIN TRAINING
As you now know, our training program vastly differs from learning music or playing sudoko puzzles because we can reach specific areas to improve on through brain wave mapping and rhythm programming. Thus, we reach the whole brain than only parts of it. Neurofeedback also is easy to do as it requires minimal mental effort because our application only requires you to be only visually and aurally engaged as it subtly teaches your brain the correct rhythms for mental peak performance.
Our Neurofeedback application requires your mind 5 sessions to adjust into our training program. After, your mind, with further sessions, will be able to fully take advantage of Neurofeedback’s courses to unleash these areas of your brain:
- Auditory and Visual Processing – quicker comprehension of information from people and the environment.
- Language Comprehension – more skillful ability to understand and respond eloquently.
- Memory – boost your ability to remember information.
- Performance – be able to endure long and complex tasks throughout the day with little fatigue.
- Emotional Stability – to manage stress through a clear and stable mind.
As such, Neurofeedback has been commonly used by individuals within these high performing professions:
NASA astronauts * Superbowl football players * PGA Golfers * Olympic athletes * Fortune 500 CEOs * Professional soccer teams
Neurofeedback also is effective with persons with difficult mental conditions. A list of these mental conditions can be found here.
